Reopening Plan 2021

2021 will see the BID Leicester team working hard to support businesses across all sectors as restrictions are eased to enable a strong recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. We will deliver initiatives that will enhance the BID area, responsibly drive footfall and rebuild confidence in the city centre as a great, and safe, place to live, work, visit and do business.

Engaging with our reopening plan can benefit businesses of all sizes and in all sectors – if you have any questions about the projects in the document please get in touch with the team: [email protected]

Economic Recovery Partnership

The BID Leicester Economic Recovery Partnership implemented a plan in 2020 to ensure the smooth reopening of city centre businesses and plan for the long-term economic recovery of the area. The plan was implemented using BID Leicester funding.

Working collaboratively, the group identified innovative methods to strengthen the local economy, create opportunities for businesses and offer the best possible experiences for people living in, working in and visiting Leicester.

Reopening Resources for Businesses

The following resources have been compiled to help businesses reopen safely.

Signage

Free resources for businesses:

  • BID Leicester will provide printed copies of the Government recommended poster for your business for display, to demonstrate you have reopened in a responsible way.
  • BID Leicester will also provide a choice of floor vinyls – footsteps, and circular social distancing vinyls – for your business to use. The vinyls will stick to hard floor and short pile carpet, and are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
  • A printed copy of the Businesses Reopening checklist (available to download above) will be provided
  • A free poster reminding customers it is mandatory to wear a face mask in shops.

These items will be delivered to businesses by our Street Ambassador team – if you haven’t received these or would like more stock, contact us: [email protected]

BID Leicester will provide free refills for sanitising units in the city centre whilst stocks last.

Businesses who purchase a Hand Sanitising Unit from our supplier can request free refills. Businesses who already have a fixed sanitiser point can request free refills of their point once they have taken up the free elements of the business restart pack – floor vinyls, checklist and risk assessment. Only fixed points will be refilled (not individual bottles). All refill offers are whilst stock lasts.

Get in touch and one of our team will visit to refill your unit: [email protected]

For businesses wanting to purchase their own supply of sanitising gel, we recommend using our city centre-based supplier Reynolds Hygiene. Contact Hamzah at Reynolds Hygiene and quote “BID Leicester business restart” to order: [email protected]

From 15 June it will be mandatory to wear face masks on public transport. Face masks can be purchased through our recommended supplier Reynolds Hygiene for £22.50 for a pack of 50. Contact Hamzah at Reynolds Hygiene and quote “BID Leicester business restart” to order: [email protected]

Yoello – solution for evening and night-time economy sector

BID Leicester levy payers can get twelve months of free access to Yoello – a web-based solution that can help you make your business Covid secure and protect your customers and staff.

  • Collect customer data
Customers scan a QR code on entry and fill in a short form. Data is stored in a GDPR compliant database and only accessible if requested from NHS test and trace, taking data collection and storage issues out of your hands.
  • Table service sorted
Customers simply scan the QR code on their table to order and pay using their smartphone. Research suggests a 20-30% uplift in sales when using table service compared to conventional ordering. Orders are visible to staff on a web-based admin dashboard, or you can opt to purchase a printer.
  • Easy for your business – flexibility, quick payment, low transaction fees
Simply send your menu to the team and they will do the rest. Yoello integrates with your point of sale system, transaction fees are low (1.25%), and you will receive next day payment on all sales. You can even add a click-and-collect or delivery service to your venue.
  • Easy for customers – no apps, secure data and speedy payment!
Customers can access everything they need from a simple QR code at your venue – no apps to download or registration required. Their contact data is held in a secure, GDPR compliant database and they can choose to pay with Google pay or Apple pay to speed up the process.
  • Cost-efficient delivery
Yoello has worked with Gigable to recruit delivery drivers in Leicester to offer a cost-efficient delivery mechanism. Simply set up your delivery menu on your Yoello profile and hire drivers through Gigable to fulfil your orders. You select the driver and their rate of pay, giving you complete control. Gigable charge 10% of what you pay the driver at the end of the shift – a favourable rate in comparison to other delivery platforms. Click here for more information on hiring drivers through Gigable.

This solution would usually cost your business £59 per month, but BID Leicester are paying for levy-payers to access a free twelve month subscription.

Risk Assessment template

Please note: It is essential that you carry out a specific risk assessment for you particular premises – our templates and checklists can provide suggestions of measures that it might be appropriate to take, but should not be adopted in entirety without specific thought and assessment of what is appropriate for your premises. If appropriate, include a note about how risk assessment will be checked/monitored. We suggest you brand your completed risk assessment as relating to your business to designate ownership of it, and even publish it on your website to give customers reassurance you have taken all necessary precautions.

There is government HSE Guidance available to help you consider risks. Our reopening checklists (below) will help you consider issues and risks you may list on your Risk Assessment.
