Working together for a safer Leicester
BID Leicester is committed to making Leicester a safer place to live, work, study and do business. As part of our commitment, we have a range of services aimed at making the city centre safer, which we’re calling our Safer Leicester Service.
Night time first aid service
BID Leicester funds a night time first aid service in partnership with St. John Ambulance to keep the public safe and save lives.
The dedicated St John’s Ambulance first aid service is located in the city centre at key dates to help reduce the number of hospital visits and provide medical assistance to the public where required. Find out more about this and other BID Leicester projects here.
Street Ambassador Service
Working closely with the police, City Wardens, and outreach teams, our friendly team of Street Ambassadors report and monitor on street issues and anti-social behaviour.
Our uniformed team of Street Ambassadors patrol the BID area, giving reassurance and information to businesses and visitors alike. Launched in September 2018, the service has proven invaluable to businesses in the city centre, resolving street issues such as fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour. 47 licenced premises have now received accreditation, and we’ll be reopening applications later in 2024.
In partnership with Leicestershire Police, Leicester City Council Licensing and Leicester City Watch, we launched the Best Bar None scheme in 2023.
The Best Bar None scheme is dedicated to recognising and celebrating establishments that go above and beyond in ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all patrons. Accredited venues have demonstrated their commitment to excellence and responsible management, having undergone a thorough assessment process conducted by trained assessors.
In 2024 we will be reopening the process and encouraging licenced venues who haven’t already to apply. Learn more here.
