In less than a week, Leicester City Centre is set to transform into a playground for giant monsters, as the highly anticipated Leicester Monsters trail makes its grand debut from 16-31 October. BID Leicester is excited to present the trail with support from Highcross and Leicester City Council. This free event promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.

Leicester Monsters is a city-wide trail that will bring Leicester to life with a cast of nine larger-than-life giant monsters, created by artists Filthy Luker & Pedro Estrellas, each with their own quirky personality waiting to be discovered. These giant creatures will be playfully peeking over iconic Leicester landmarks, reaching their claws over rooftops, and bursting with illuminated surprises. The playful monsters will invade the city centre for two weeks, coming to life after dark as they cast a magical glow on the streets below. Visitors can expect a surprising and unforgettable experience of the city centre as they’ve never seen it before!

A digital map is available to help explorers navigate the trail with ease. For people who would prefer to navigate with a physical map, these are available from points across the city centre, including the Customer Service Desk in Highcross, Visit Leicester, located opposite the Cathedral, or Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, formerly New Walk Museum. The trail is fully accessible, with just a short walk between each of the locations and is suitable for all ages.

There are lots of ways to get involved along the trail. To celebrate the launch of the Leicester Monsters trail, budding photographers can upload their snaps of the giant beasts to social media, using the hashtag #LeicesterMonsters, for the chance to win £100. Keen adventurers will be able to scan in using QR codes at each location and will be entered into a prize draw if they find every monster along the way. And for the fancy dress enthusiasts, keep your eyes peeled for a special Monster Mash Ball at the end of October, with awards for the best dressed!

Leicester Restaurant Week is also starting on the same day the monsters come to town, with over 50 special menus, deals and offers to choose from, and this year features a host of family friendly offers suitable for little monsters in need of brunch, lunch, or dinner. Crafty has a kid’s meal for just £5, kids eat for free if in fancy dress at Franky & Bennys, and a whole family can eat for £25 at Peter Pizzeria.

Simon Jenner, BID Leicester Director, says: “We are thrilled to bring the Leicester Monsters project to life. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that combines creativity and urban vibrancy. We invite everyone to join us and be captivated by these enchanting monsters, a perfect way to celebrate the spirit of our city.”

“We’re very pleased to be working with BID Leicester to bring this brilliant event to the city centre during the run-up to Halloween,” said deputy city mayor Cllr Adam Clarke.

“It’s going to be a monster-size event for half-term week that local families and visitors alike won’t want to miss.”
