BID Leicester and Leicester City Council have decided to give businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors longer to pay their BID levy this year. Businesses in these sectors will not need to pay their levy until 30th June 2020.

We are working hard to get businesses the support they need. We have been liaising with British BIDs and the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) to lobby the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), advocating for timely and substantial financial support for businesses. The immediate support on business rates relief is a direct response to this work.

BID Leicester is also progressing plans so that when the time comes, we can positively affect the economic recovery in Leicester city centre. Whilst uncertainty remains about when normal activity will resume, we are working to deliver projects and initiatives, including: a Savings Advisory Service, the launch of the Leicester City Gift card, an augmented reality vacant units project, LoyalFree, business training, a Christmas TV advert, the Christmas in Leicester Guide, enhanced street washing and graffiti removal, and events such as the Luminarium, Craft Beer Festival, Where There Is Light and the Bottle Garden Jazz Festival. There will also be marketing and events under the Independent Leicester campaign, the resumption of the BID Socials programme, activity to promote and support the evening and night-time economy and a Christmas light installation.

In these challenging times the BID is more relevant than ever before. We will be working hard to deliver these schemes that will support businesses both now and in the future.
