BID Leicester, Highcross Leicester and Leicester City Council are working in partnership to host two events at Leicester Business Festival 2019 that give delegates the opportunity to hear from national experts about Place Shaping and The Future of High Street, linking national trends to ongoing partnership work in Leicester.
The first event will take place on Monday 4 November, titled Future Places: What is Place Shaping & Why Does it Matter? This event will examine ‘place shaping’ and how it differs from place management, including a discussion on what makes an outstanding place in 2019 and how we can develop and implement a strong vision for our city centre.
The event will feature key note speaker, Paul Clement, Head of Place-Shaping and Marketing at Savills Place. Speakers from BID Leicester, Highcross and Leicester City Council will also give an insight into the strong local place shaping partnership we have formed in Leicester.
Attendees will get a better insight into the challenges facing places and high street retail and also have the opportunity to network and build relationships towards strengthening local economies in the future.
Practitioners in retail, regeneration and place shaping will find this event particularly useful, as well as those colleagues who are interested in helping shape the future of Leicester City.
A second event will take place on Friday 8 November, titled Crisis or Opportunity? The Future of the High Street. Keynote speaker and national high street expert Diane Wehrle of Springboard UK will give a ‘big picture’ insight into changes affecting the high street in UK towns and cities. BID Leicester, Highcross and Leicester City Council will then highlight how we are working proactively in partnership to address these issues in the city.
This event is aimed at business owners, public sector staff in place / region and stakeholders in Leicester City that are interested in learning about and addressing the challenges we face as a place.
Attendees will gain national level expertise and insight, greater understanding of what is being done in Leicester City.
